Welcome to the Southwest...
Ted Fulmer ~ Dallas? TX

I'm 42 years old, started biking at 40 - I figured everyone was waiting for me to have a midlife crisis, and biking look less complicated than the other traditional outlets. :)

My younger brother has been biking for 15 years. He currently has about 50K on his Honda ST1100(and has been in all of the lower forty-eight on it), and when I first considered taking up the sport, he lent the bike to me for a couple of weeks to 'try out'. It was late January, but this being Texas, I was able to ride it every day. I was hooked, although the leaned over posture of the ST was a little too agressive for me, so I went looking for a cruiser. I found a sweet little 1986 Suzuki Intruder that I bought and rode for 6 months. At the time, I had a friend who had a V45 Sabre sitting in his barn, and he REALLY wanted me to buy that bike, but when we had Honda look at it, the repair cost was prohibitive. But his sales job on the bike had me intrigued, so when I heard about SabMag, I signed up. I started watching the paper for V4's and took several for a test drive. I really didn't think I'd find one but in late August 1996 I rode a V65 Sabre with the Hondaline Fairing and a corbin seat. I was able to sell my Intruder to a friend of mine, and buy it.

In less than a month I had almost 1,000 miles on it, and was completely hooked. By late October, I had the V45 Sabre from my friends barn at my parents lake cabin and was working on restoring it. My son and I got it running in July, and it hit the streets of Dallas/Ft Worth in September. I'm looking for a Magna project bike now.

BTW, I've got a web page on the restoration project at: http://ostc.external.hp.com/~tfulmer/rip_van_sabre.html

Mike Guillory ~ Houston TX

I am retired since 1996 from a 27-year career in the Petrochemical business and live in the far Northwest burbs of Houston, Texas. Riding since 1973 with the old CB350, I now ride a 1985 V65 Magna and a 1994 VFR750. My wife, Charlene, retired from banking, rides a 1986 Magna 700 and a 1995 CBR600F3. When not riding, I play golf, sing Barbershop, and do volunteer work in the community and schools. Work is nice, but now that I've tried both, retirement is much nicer.

Christopher Leach ~ Tulsa OK

I was born in 1974 in St Louis, Missouri. My family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma when I was 5 and have lived here ever since.
During my Junior year in college (Fall '94), a friend of mine acquired an '86 VF500F Interceptor. He let me ride it a few times, and I was hooked. Never having had a bike before (save 3-wheelers when I was a pup) and the fact that my parents were having less and less influence over my daily life caused me to develop a severe case of bike fever. I bought my first (and current) bike in January of the next year. A 1984 VF1000F Interceptor . This is a lot of bike for a beginner, and I still have a very healthy respect for her. But she's been a great bike for the last 3 years.
As I said I still reside in Tulsa, working for Southwestern Bell Telephone as the Eastern Oklahoma LAN/WAN Support Manager. Sabmaggots are welcome anytime, whether they're passing through, wanting to hang around for awhile, or tackling the IBR :P

Don Bernhard ~ San Antonio TX

I had always wanted a motorcycle but things always got in the way. In the spring of 1996, when I was 37 years old, I decided I had waited long enough. I shopped around and decided that the best bike for me to get, for my taste, was a V45 Sabre. I called about an add in the paper that didn't specify the size. It turned out to be a V65 Sabre. Bigger than I had wanted to start on, but a good find, nonetheless. I purchased it and took it slow. I knew it was a lot more bike than I could handle at the time but I figured I'd rather have a bike to grow into than one I might outgrow. I hadn't ridden very many motorcycles up until then, but I knew, by a twist of the wrist, that I had gotten a strong machine. It may be hard to believe, but I took my MC driving test on my V65 Sabre after only a few weeks of experience. I have not yet taken any MSF course because they are only offered around here on weekends when I work.
By profession, I am a Music Director at a Catholic church. In the past I had been a machinist/CNC programmer for five years and before that, I was a school band director. I have a degree in Music Education.
